The Challenge
Chance’s family had owned dogs their entire lives, so hiring a professional dog trainer was never something they imagined needing.

The Approach
After being referred to Sean Rivera by a trusted friend at a highly respected veterinary hospital in Chester County, the family reached out to Absolute Canine for help.
Sean agreed to take on what was clearly a difficult case.
Given the family’s circumstances and Chance’s needs, the solution was an immersive board-and-train style program where Chance lived with Sean while receiving focused daily training.
The process began with foundational obedience work on leash, building structure, communication, and behavioral expectations. Once Chance demonstrated progress, training advanced into more complex off-leash obedience work.
That advanced control was especially important because the family’s goal was not simply improved manners, but confidence that Chance could be safely controlled in the event of an emergency or escape situation.
Sean maintained communication throughout the process, regularly updating the family on Chance’s progress.
Importantly, Sean refused to rush the outcome.
Despite Chance being one of the more difficult dogs he had worked with, Sean remained committed to seeing the process through and insisted Chance would not return home until he was fully ready.
